About the Department

Our Mandate & Structure

The Department of Land Resources Conservation (DLRC) is a technical wing under the Ministry of Agriculture. Our mandate is to promote sustainable land management through technical guidance and policy implementation.

Mission

To provide efficient and diversified services on environmental conservation to land users for sustainable use of land-based resources.

Organizational Structure

Led by a Director, supported by Deputy Directors across Technical Units and Regional Offices (ADDs).

Major Functions

  • Development of policies and strategies relating to land resources management.
  • Planning and coordination of programmes on land resource management.
  • Planning and coordination of programmes on agriculture adaptation and mitigation to climate change.
  • Providing land resources information services.
  • Monitoring and evaluating land use/cover changes.
  • Providing training in land resources management.
  • Providing technical support in land resource management.

Soil Fertility & Agroforestry

We focus on Integrated Soil Fertility Management using both organic and inorganic nutrients to restore soil health.

Agroforestry Species

Promotion of Tephrosia vogelii and Faidherbia albida for nitrogen fixation.

Organic Matter

Guidelines for manure making, application, and improved fallows/alley cropping.
